Ellingson–Leaving Minnesota

I had spent a few days in Minnesota and my last stop was at a place that was an interesting combination of a car museum and a place that sold classic cars.

Now some of you might get the thought that if you purposely sell cars then you are not a proper car museum because, after all, the point is to have cars around so the museum can show them off to folks.  The reality is, that car museums generally are buying and selling cars in their collection as well as accepting donations of cars, all the time.  It helps to keep their collection interesting. 

They  might have a couple of examples of the same car, or one of the cars they have isn’t in as great shape as they would like, or maybe there is one that just isn’t compatible with the rest of the collection and if they sold it they could afford to pick up something that is.

So here is Ellingson Classic Cars, Inc. that is being very upfront about it all:

Outside, behind a chain link fence were cars either waiting to be picked up by new owners or getting ready to be staged in with the existing ones on display.

This Hudson was a little younger than I liked.

So in to the main building I went.

There is a selection of cars that are on display in the entrance…

…and then you are in the gift shop where you buy a ticket to see everything on display.

Inside is a large display area with all the cars they have – and they are all for sale.

Above is a peek into the shop area where the cars are worked on and spruced up.

Finally you are back where you started and you get to see the rest of the cars that are on display at the entrance.

If you spot the car of your dreams….well they all have a price tag on them.
