PRI always has a multitude of displays of some of the finest brake companies that provide stopping solutions for the racing and street communities. In past years I’ve featured photos of their exhibits on the show floor. This year I felt that this key component of brake systems should be highlighted.
When you are competing one of your first objectives is to have as much power and torque available that the rules and technology will allow. Soon after comes the realization that you also will need exceptional braking capabilities. You need reliable braking that can provide your driver to have the advantage of late braking and the subtilty of trail braking that will allow them to conquer corners with elan. The key component I’m focusing on is the brake fluid itself. Orthene is the world’s largest specialist racing brake fluid manufacturer, and Halo is their new high-performance brake fluid.
Orthene has been developing brake fluid for 48 years and produces 65% of the world’s racing brake fluid. They manufacture brake fluid for over three hundred brands. Halo P1 is now the world’s highest performance brake fluid. Orthene crafts the purest methyl borate ester fluid to produce a brake fluid that provides the highest performance and the highest boiling point of 646 degrees F / 341 degrees C dry. It has the characteristic of low compressibility since it is a highly polar fluid. Polar molecules don’t like to occupy the same space, and so resist being compressed. Halo P1 provides consistency, fade resistance, and durability.
