PRI 2024 – Roaming the Aisles

That’s the point when you attend PRI, you explore the exhibits that vendors have provided. Sometimes you come across familiar products and sometimes you see products from parts of the world that you didn’t expect.

Paoli is a brand of impact wrench known for a very long time in racing, from Indy racing to Formula 1.

While you will certainly still see the pneumatic versions at the racetrack, the high voltage electric guns are now being used, too.

Paoli also makes the sockets that both drive and remove the wheel nuts.

Above is a closeup of the rear button that determines clockwise or counterclockwise operation. In the Indy series that is an important feature as there is only one tire person for each corner of the race car to loosen the single wheel nut and then tighten the new wheel’s nut at each tire change. Since the button sticks out the tire changer just drops it so when it hits the pavement the button is pushed and is ready to tighten the wheel’s nut.

MDL specializes on the conversions to 5 and six speed transmissions.
