PRI always has race cars for you to see. But in addition are some interesting examples out on the exhibition floor. This is a sample of vehicles that caught my eye as I went through PRI 20255.

When I first saw this vehicle, I was certain that it was someone’s idea of a custom Tesla truck. I was wrong. It may have been influenced in a way by the Tesla truck, but it was completely its own vehicle.

It was amazing to examine up close and must be quite the off-road vehicle that is its own class.

In another area was this GT car based on a five rotor Wankel engine.

Once you saw this Corvette it was understandable why you had the window in the hood.

We had to walk around this four-engined monster to fully appreciate the thousands of horsepower and torque it had.

The Toyota pickup truck have a long history and this custom version was amazing to look at.

We would have loved to see what was under the hood, but we could not wait for the owner to show up and help remove it.

This was the Lotus 29/1 that Dan Gurney drove in his first Indianapolis 500 in 1962. Dan had come from the Dutch Grand Prix, bringing as his guest, Colin Chapman, of the English Formula One constructor Team Lotus. Aware that Ford Motor Company was planning a return to Indianapolis competition after an absence of almost 30 years, Gurney arranged for them to meet with Chapman.

The result of that meeting was a three-car entry for 1963 of Grand Prix-based rear-engined Lotus cars, powered by normally aspirated 4.2-liter Ford V8 passenger car engines outfitted with 48IDA Weber carburetors. Scotland’s eventual two-time World Champion, Jim Clark, drove his Lotus 29 to second place. At that time, it was the highest ever finish by a rear-engined car at the 500 race. Clark made only one pitstop.

This is a powerboat racer that is a beast.

Exedy had this beast on display at their area on the exhibit floor.

Talk about aerodynamics!

Then there was this amazing resto-mod Lincoln Continental…

How about an electric kart!

I hope you enjoyed my picks out of the hundreds of cars at PRI this year.
