Today it was announced that Ford has sold Aston Martin for $925 million.

From the DB5 in the James Bond movies of the sixties to the DBS in last year’s Casino Royale this car has displayed a mystique and panache that complemented the Bond persona better than any other marque.

While there are many critics of Ford’s ownership of Aston Martin, I think that some of the most beautiful looking versions appeared during their ownership.  It could be argued that they were not at the level of quality and performance that the brand deserved, but I can assure you that I would have had no problem being seen in one if I had had the chance.

Back in 1997 the original DB5 from the Gold Finger movie was stolen from a Boca Raton Airport hanger.  I’m not sure if it was ever recovered.

  1. Ford announces sale of Aston Martin

Ford officials have earlier announced the sale at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, England. The sale is expected to close in the second quarter, and Ford will retain a $77 million stake in the sports car maker.

I think GM needs to follow suit and shed itself of Hummer. So who do you think will buy it?

I think Arnold Schwartzenegger should buy it. After all, what is he got left after being governor of California? The Presidency is off limits to him. Maria will get tired of his ranting and cigars. Maybe he and Jack Roush could do a deal together.
