Good Lord! What’s happening here? Are people hitting an invisible patch of ice or something?

The 3,150 m long Lefortovo Tunnel in Russia is the longest ‘in-city’ tunnel in all of Europe. There is a river running over it and water leaks at some points. When the temperature reaches minus 38 degrees like it did last winter, the road freezes and the result is the attached video taken during a single day with the tunnel camera. Congratulations to the driver of the dual bus!!

Wow Jim,
That’s really something.

These shots are from at least three different cameras. Black ice makes sense, but in a couple of cases the cars seem to turn directly into the wall. Kind of an over-reaction to a little ice.
The one I don’t get is near the end with the two trucks. The one with “205” on his back door has nothing in front of him, but moves left a little, then suddenly the entire other truck is there, pointed mostly the other way. That looks like it must have been edited as the other truck appears too suddenly.
That bus driver sure must have been busy. Whenever I ride in one of those I wonder what it’d be like to have the rear carriage get loose!

Yes, the bus driver is now declared my own personal hero.
