Last weekend was a familiar sight to many in the Raleigh area as car owners started packing the parking lots in Cary at a shopping center known as Waverly Place. Cars were arriving as early as 7:30 and different areas were gathering points for certain makes and models. Corvettes in one area, Porsches in another and a great variety all over.

Many places across the US have these gathering of cars, owners, and admirers. With Fall approaching the weather is conducive to these kinds of gatherings where vehicles that might normally be kept in a garage or be something that flashes by on the beltline, can now be seen up close and personal, often with the owner nearby happy to answer questions or swap stories.

These are not car shows where any prizes are offered. No entry fee is required. People are just there to admire and be admired.

Some cars are completely custom and others are bone stock. Some are rare imports and others come in groups of like-minded brand adherents.

Wandering between the parking lots you might have your breath taken away by a short row of exotics or be stunned by the appearance of a car you had long forgotten.

The nice thing is that it happens at all. That folks can come to a common place and enjoy the weather, share memories, and get to view some very special vehicles.
